cederberg ridge is opening in october!

We are very excited to announce that we are officially opening our doors in October this year! By that stage, we will have 9 spacious rooms and suites, and a beautiful homestead with panoramic views of the Cederberg Mountains. This will give our visitors a tasteful ‘away-from-it-all’ experience.

But who had the brilliant idea of building a luxurious wilderness lodge in such a picturesque part of South Africa? Owners, Anton and Kate Bergh, have always imagined a lodge in the Cederberg area. Kate, who has been in the travel industry for more than 20 years says, “The Cederberg is our home, so for us, this is personal! We want our guests to have a memorable and life-enriching experience with us, and to witness a completely different side of the Western Cape. Here there are no manicured gardens, glitzy shops or touristy ‘attractions’. What you get is raw, rugged beauty in bucket loads, and a sense of utter peace and tranquility.”

The lodge

The stone-clad homestead at Cederberg Ridge will have a Modern African farmhouse feel with all en-compassing views of the Cederberg Mountains. “The lodge backs on to the wilderness portion of our 3000ha farm so that guests can walk or bike directly from the lodge,” adds Kate.

Lodge facilities comprise a restaurant with a view, sitting room, bar, library, spa treatment room or in-room spa treatments. Outside there’s a large swimming pool, indigenous gardens flowing into the veld, boules court and even croquet. Guests can enjoy wine tasting at the lodge or star-gazing and story-telling at the fire-pit.

The 9 spacious rooms (4 superior suites, 3 luxury suites and 2 classic rooms) have been beautifully decorated by interior designer Nina Erasmus. They will all have outdoor showers and fireplaces, and romantic sleep-outs decks are also available for those who want to dream under the stars.

activities from cederberg ridge

Wondering what else Cederberg Ridge has in store for you?  “The Cederberg is most famous for its stunning spring flowers, ancient rock art sites and scenic walking trails. So many people want to visit, but they are not clear how to enjoy the area. We want to show it off and share it with as many people as possible. So we decided to offer selected excursions and activities on a “Full Board and Activity” meal basis. We also offer a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast option (DBB) for independent visitors,” says Kate.

Get involved in guided walks, mountain biking, rock art excursions and water activities on the dam. Or venture out on a scenic excursion into the high Cederberg or to charming beach restaurants and Bird Island of the West Coast. You can be as active as you like, or you can just kick back and soak in the tranquil mountain views, the clean air and the amazing stars.
