FLOWERS & FYNBOS

Spring flowers and flower viewing excursions at Cederberg Ridge Wilderness Lodge
In season - mainly August - depending on the winter rains, we add flower-viewing to our rock art excursions.

After good winter rains the hinterland of the Cederberg, "Agter Pakhuis" and the Bieudouw Valley becomes a carpet of flowers with nemesias, babiana and ixias seen in great profusion. En route you enjoy the montane fynbos of the Cederberg with over 1000 fynbos plant species. This is especially lovely in the spring from August to October.

The Cederberg is also home to healthy (caffeine and tannin-free) rooibos tea plant which is actually endemic to the area. So another occasional excursion is a visit a Rooibos tea farm.
