Walking Trails

Enjoy guided (or independent) walking trails & mountain biking right from the lodge, or in the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve. Our trails range from an easy 45 minutes to 3+ hours.

Most of the mountain range is part of the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve and remains one of the most pristine areas of South Africa. So our trails take you through unique fynbos and past curious rock formations.

On the farm, we have a wide range of trails to enjoy. Trails range from easy walks of 45-60 minutes to a hike up the iconic Spitzkop peak with its panoramic views. Plus most of these can be done on a self-guided basis as well. Ask for one of our walking maps to guide you. 

We also offer guided walks in the Cederberg Wilderness Reserve. Again these range from an easy 45 minute stroll before sundowner drinks through to 3 to 4 hours.

You can join one of our guided walks, or you can walk independently.  It is up to you!

Note: There are options for more serious full day treks if you are a small group of 4 or more. Contact us to discuss this prior to your arrival. It would be subject to availability of guides as it's outside our usual portfolio of excursions.

Mountain Biking

We also offer guided mountain bike trails right from the lodge. (We have some mountain bikes at the lodge for you to use.) These also range from an easy track (less than an hour) to something more challenging for the more experienced.

Again the easier trails on the farm can be done on a self-guided basis if you want to be independent. As with walking, we provide maps and markers on the rocks to guide you.

Climate

The ideal time for longer walks is from mid March to November (ie not high summer). But in summer we set off hiking before breakfast in the cool of the day. Breakfast is then a well-earned brunch affair!
