Cederberg Ridge Wilderness Lodge exterior render

We are opening in October!

We are very excited to let everyone know that we are officially opening our doors in October this year! By that stage, we will have 9 spacious rooms and suites, and a beautiful homestead with panoramic views of the Cederberg Mountains, to give our visitors a tasteful ‘away-from-it-all’ experience.

But who had the brilliant idea of building a luxurious wilderness lodge in such a picturesque part of South Africa? Owners Anton and Kate Bergh have always wanted to share the beauty of the Cederberg with as many people as possible! Kate, who has been in the travel industry for more than 25 years, says, “Quote from Kate, perhaps focusing on how you identified a gap in the market, and what most drove you to you go ahead with the lodge? Experience a different side of the Cape? The Cederberg is our home, so this is personal (I like that quote J)

The stone-clad homestead at Cederberg Ridge will have a Modern African farmhouse feel with all en-compassing views of the Cederberg Mountains. “The lodge backs on to the wilderness portion of our 3000ha farm so that guests can walk or bike directly from the lodge,” adds Kate.

Lodge facilities also include a sitting room, bar, library, complimentary Wi-Fi in the rooms, a spa treatment room or in-room treatments. Outside there is a large swimming pool, pool terrace, garden, boules court and croquet. Guests can also enjoy wine tasting at the lodge, star-gazing and story-telling at the fire-pit.

The 9 spacious rooms (4 superior suites, 3 luxury suites and 2 classic rooms) have been beautifully decorated by interior designer Nina Erasmus. They will all have outdoor showers and fireplaces, and romantic sleep-outs decks are also available for those who want to dream under the stars.

Wondering what else Cederberg Ridge has in store for you? We’ll be offering a high standard of food, hospitality and experiences to our guests. There is a lovely balance when visiting us – you can opt to relax and enjoy the untamed, wide-open spaces, or you can take part in a range of activities if you are an energetic traveller. Or you can do both!

Get involved in guided walks, mountain biking, rock art excursions and water activities on two scenic dams (including sunset cruises!). Or venture out on a day trip into the high Cederberg or to charming beach restaurants on the Cape West Coast. Wine enthusiasts will be pleased to know that there are a range of local wine estates within easy reach of Cederberg Ridge.

“We are lucky to have a much sunnier winter climate than anywhere else in the Western Cape, which allows us even more time to enjoy the area’s raw rugged beauty,” Kate says. “The Cederberg is most famous for its stunning spring flowers, ancient rock art sites and scenic hiking trails. But we feel that the region is largely undiscovered and we want to show it off (and share it!) with as many people as possible”.

Don’t forget that the Cederberg is ideally positioned for a Cape circuit tour, as it is only 2+ hours from the Winelands, 2.5 hours from Cape Town and 3.5 to 4 hours from Hermanus or Swellendam. It is also the perfect stopping off point if you are heading north to either Namibia or the Kalahari.

We hope you are as excited as we are! The website is live, and reservations are open! For bookings, email res@cederbergridge.co.za or call +27 87 1514 520. And for further information please take a closer look at our website, call +27 82 802 0073 or visit our Facebook and Instagram pages.
