FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you offer transfers from Cape Town?
Yes, you can book transfers with us. These are done by a fully insured/licensed transfer provider on our behalf. Please ask Reservations for a transfer price. Please note that if you require an early collection from the lodge (e.g. before 9am) or a late departure from Cape Town (eg. after 1pm). then there will be an extra charge. As the transfer guide will need to stay overnight in Clanwilliam. We can arrange transfers to/from the Winelands at a slightly higher charge. (Transfers from the West Coast/Paternoster are often possible. But subject to vehicle availability as we usually do those transfers in-house.)
Should I choose Full Board and Activities or Dinner, Bed and Breakfast?
This all depends on whether you like to explore independently? Or whether you would prefer a more inclusive and guided experience.

The Dinner, Bed & Breakfast (DBB) option is ideal for people who have their own vehicle and who like to be independent. You can do what you want to do, when you want to do it. (But note that if you want to join an in-house excursion, preference is given to our Full Board guests first.

The Full Board & Activities (FBA) option is best if you want to be shown some of the best of the Cederberg. It's also ideal if you don’t have your own vehicle. We'll take care of you during your stay with a range of activities on offer. There’s a seasonal ‘programme’ usually on a 3-4 night rotation. You can choose from the day’s options. There's usually a more active option and a more leisurely option. All activities are included, except for the Spa.
When is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 14:30. You are welcome to arrive at Cederberg Ridge earlier. You can enjoy lunch or make use of our swimming pools and garden. Check-out is promptly at 11:00 on the day of departure. We try to accommodate early arrivals or late check-outs, subject to room availability. But unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed, unless you pay for an extra night.

However we can store your luggage on day of departure. You are also welcome to use the pool or participate in any excursion on that day (even the full day Cederberg excursion). And then depart after that.
If I book on Diner, Bed and Breakfast, can I still book excursions at the Lodge?
Yes you can. But it is subject to the availability of guides and vehicles. First we accommodate our guests booked on a Full Board & Activity basis. Then if there are any extra places left i.e. for a guided walk or an excursion, we indicate that on our activity board at the lodge, so that you can book your spot. Usually we should be able to accommodate you on guided walking and sundowner trips. But occasionally other guided excursions may get booked up if there are many FBA guests in house.

If you know you are likely to want to do the Full Board activities, it is worth booking on the FBA basis as it is also the more cost-effective option.
Can I have lunch when I arrive?
Lunch is a light meal typically on offer from 1pm to 2.30pm. If you are booked on a Full Board basis, lunch on your arrival day OR on your departure day is included. If you have booked on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis, then there is an extra charge for lunch.
Are drinks included?
We don’t include drinks with meals. As people vary in terms of how much and what they like to drink. The minibar drinks are also for your account. There is always filtered water available so that you can fill up your complimentary water flasks. However we do include selected drinks with our excursions. This includes a range of drinks on our sundowner trips (House wine, selected spirits, beer and soft drinks).

FAMILIES

Can I bring along my children?
Cederberg Ridge welcomes older children from 8 years and upwards. Younger children of 6 or 7 are accepted by prior arrangement ONLY. The farm is the perfect environment for older kids. Fill your days with easy walks on the farm or in the mountains, or tubing on the Clanwilliam dam. At the lodge itself, you can make the most of the swimming pool, croquet and board games.

It is such not a suitable environment for younger kids.

Do you offer facilities for my children?
Please note that we are not geared towards entertaining younger children which is why our age limit is set at eight years old.

• Selection of board games • Swimming pool • Outdoor games - croquet • Kids Menu on request

Unfortunately, being a small lodge, we are not able to offer baby-sitting facilities. We assume your children will be dining with you. But we are happy to accommodate an earlier dining time if it suits your family.
