Maalgat rock pools on Cederberg excursion from Cederberg Ridge Wilderness Lodge
Cederberg Ridge offers a full day excursion into the High Cederberg (Stadsaal and Cederberg Cellars) every three days or so. But the timing may not suit your visit. 

So you can also take a scenic self-drive adventure into the central Cederberg with its all-encompassing mountain views. Enjoy the stunning mountain pass scenery , wonderful wine-tasting at Cederberg Wine Cellars and unique rock formations and rock art at Stadsaal caves. Time permitting you may like to stop for a swim in the rock pools of Algeria Forest Station (Cape Nature centre) or at Maalgat at Sanddrif/Cederberg Cellars.

Time permitting, if you set off early, you can hike up to Middleburg waterfall, above Algeria (allow 2½ hours). 

Stadsaal Caves

Stadsaal caves has some of the best preserved San Busheman rock art to view. Afterwards explore the caves with their curious rock formations. Its a delight for all keen photographers. 

Cederberg Cellars

Cederberg Cellars are the highest wine estate in South Africa. And also one of the best with several award-winning wines, which are naturally on our wine list! You may like to stop off here to sample some of their wines, enjoy a light snack and perhaps buy a bottle or two to take with you.

Kromriver Wines & Craft Beer

If you are feeling adventurous. Or if you are taking a scenic arrival or departure route via the high Cederberg, then you can also visit Kromriver Wine Estate to taste its excellent wines and award-winning craft beer. Polish that off with lunch at their restaurant. 

Note: The central high Cederberg is all gravel road, so you may prefer to do this in a SUV-type vehicle. But it is accessible for all types of cars, except after heavy rain.
